Haha hmm... overall a leetle disappointing I think. I mean, I've wanted to watch
this series for a while now and I do plan to get around to it sometime, but it's
definitely a bummer to hear about that ending. Mixed reactions from comments
too. I tend to watch one (or sometimes half of one) episode to decide if I like
a series, and drop it like a hotcake if I don't. From your review I get the
feeling that I'll either really like it or really dislike it xD;;
Too much ranting, actually makes this really difficult to read through. Had to
do some mass skimming towards the end. Most of what you said about the art can
pretty much be applied to any other Japanese RPG-type games that were release at
around that time. I also wanted to point out that yes, the English lyrics for
Simple and Clean were rather awful, but Utada Hikaru grew up in NYC and went to
Columbia University for a year, so I seriously doubt that she really needs to
"attempt to understand the American language and style" in the way
that you implied.
I read some of the manga + watched a bit of the anime... I actually stopped
watching the anime because it started to freak me out, being dead serious here,
my tolerance for that sort of stuff being super low; but I think the manga is
better than the anime, as is my usual opinion. I just love Clamp's artwork too
much and xxxHolic is just so fabulously stylized.
Ahahaha... I love reading rants sometimes and this one sure is well-written. I
can appreciate feeling the need to spread just how bad an anime is. You made me
chuckle too, except maybe the deja-vu bit... but yeah this sounds like an anime
that I would never appreciate XP Thanks for the informative review~
Haha... great review :3 I loved this game, and I liked how it's very easy to
replay multiple times... The
only thing I'd prolly add is that the controls take a little getting used to,
and sometimes it's easy to get stuck in dead corners with funky perspectives
where you can't see anything... which they fixed in Katamaray 2 (you
can now see through walls and other large objects when you run up against them
in Katamari ) Which looks totally awesome, actually, when I watched my friend
play it. :3
I gotta say that for the English dubbing I always thought the flatness was done
on purposes :3 It's not like those scenes were meant to be realistic in any way
:3 Definitely looks like the designer was on something when he did this doesn't
it? Hehe. Actually a gaming friend informed me that the designer hates doing
video games... he only did it for the art... which says something about the
game, I suppose :3
Again, excellent review for a ver addictive game X3 Very stress-relieving too...
and indeed, always fun to hear the little people scream
Quote by meThe anime pales in comparison to
the manga with regards to art, mostly because it's not possible to duplicate the
details of the original artwork.
That wasn't the main reason why I gave that score for art though =P
Lol, yah. I watched it with some friends last night. Fell asleep half way
because I was tired, not because I was bored... but afterwards my friends had
similar complaints about the movie as you did... namely about the fanservice
part. Also, the friend who was the biggest fan of the movie (who had played
ffvii and loved it) mentioned that Square Enix is also going to make a prequel
movie which explains more about geostigma and some other details that I forgot
about... which might answer some of the plot holes that you wrote about. As one
of the friend of a friend put it... they're really milking the ffvii franchise
with all they got. Oh well ^^||
The artwork was definitely beautiful... biggest and main reason why I wanted to
watch this film, because I never played VII before (although I want to.) I
definitely need to watch the second half of that film. My friend tried to wake
me up for the Sephiroth fight but failed... In any case, I don't plan to watch
it as a movie... more like a really long beautiful FF CG sequence ^.~|| But yah,
people either really love it or hate it because they're out of the target
audience, it seems... >-<||
I've been hooked on Kino walls and art... so wanted to read up a review that
would tell me about the series. It sounds like a very interesting series... not
too long either! I think I'll have to give it a try. As everyone said, this is a
wonderfully detailed review~ one of the best that I've read. Thanks for sharing
your insights *^-^*
Nicely written review! I've read the Gundam Wing novels but never got into the
anime (apart from the movie.) In a way I thought novels usually do a better job
developing characters and plot details, but from your review it seems like the
anime does a decent job of the above as well. Songs-wise... I used to like one
of the theme songs a lot, but I haven't listened to them in a while. I'm
surprised though that you didn't rate the presentation higher because you
reviewed that part rather favorably. But still, this was a really nice review
for one of my favorite series because it really raises some interesting issues
and thoughts about the future of mankind and war vs. peace. Good job!
"I find ot bothering the episode where chii has been kidnapped by a pervert
and put her on a live internet show almost naked........"
Which episode is this? If you mean the one where Chii was put on a live internet
show, she went with the pervert guy to the peep show house to get her job, she
was not kidnapped (she also wasn't really almost naked...). If you mean the one
where Chii was kidnapped, that didn't put her on the internet, he ran lots of
test on her to try to find out more what kind of a persocon she is (also that
guy wasn't really a pervert, in comparison to Hideki he was really quite
"tame"...)
