I did this thing I think Tama discovered way back, and moved one of the
duplicate threads to "All Categories" which for some reason banishes
threads to oblivion. So effectively one of the duplicate thread's
"deleted," even though this is a pretty back-door way :P
I've been having the same problems enlarging/downloading scans too, would hit
this message: "The connection has timed out. The server at
download.minitokyo.net is taking too long to respond."
Yep, can definitely be a list of scans ^^ As long as it's not too difficult for
other people to pick up anything can go with regards to requests. I was even
thinking requesting just one scan would be ok, as long as the scan's in good
quality/relatively easy to wall.
Moar Plz! is a project that lets you request whatever walls you may fancy. The
catch is - you have to wall someone else's request first before you can make
your own request
Quote by Tama-NekoI'm thinking of doing
a major PR push for the next round... try to get an announcement in the next MT
Maigetsu and see if we can advertise/get announcements in some of the larger
walling groups (vector-wallers, vectory, simple-ism,
etc.).
That's a good idea. And I'd also suggest making the theme a teensy bit broader.
I would've participated except I have this "no walling anything I haven't
watched" rule. Generally I find it a terrific way to get into new series
(even if I end up dropping like 90% of them halfway to pursue other
"new" series... always with the intent of coming back and finishing
them though haha) but I simply couldn't find Keroro ANYWHERE... tried Netflix
and most of my other usual spots, nothing. I was like :<
After you find a couple walls you like, another tip would be to check the
gallery of the waller who submitted the widescreen wall, since most wallers who
go widescreen tend to stay widescreen when they wall xD
Pretty sure the 2 characters have to be human from Tama's first post...
"person" xD I dunno what Tama thinks about the member of MT thing but
it definitely would be easier if all participants are, just so we can go through
their galleries (if they have one of course) and scrutinize their past walls for
clues/trends/styles etc. D:
I'm just jumping in here so Tama correct me if I'm wrong but gaara, I don't
think a team needs to finish both walls to be able to submit both, 'cause both
walls are going to be collab walls anyways in that the two people need to work
together on both walls. It's not like waller A will work on wall A alone and
waller B will work on wall B alone and then submit the two together. So if you
end up just finishing and submitting one wall no one would ever know you had
planned to do both walls. I'm guessing Tama put in the two wall thing just so
guessing doesn't get TOO difficult.
Oh man, I totally empathize with you. I'm pretty lucky in that I'm in a
long-distance but also long-term relationship and my boyfriend and I see each
other most weekends, and I have a close friend who lives relatively near my
place. Outside of that I generally like to spend alone time with my PS2, book,
TV or Photoshop/Illustrator (geek) but otherwise I totally understand. A lot of
my college friends went through the same thing you did after graduation, and
definitely it's a tough situation. Apart from what's already been mentioned, the
best thing I would suggest is to check out your college alumni chapter in the
area, if there is one. My school has a really active young alumni (and regular
alumni) chapter where I live, and they're SUPER active with all kinds of
activities ranging from happy hours to pot lucks to visiting lectures from
professors. I haven't gone to that many events, but the few I went to are fun
and the people are really friendly. Plus the college bond just brings people
together too ;D I know our alumni club also does joint activities with alumni
clubs from other schools, so even if your school doesn't have an alumni club it
might be worth checking out some other alumni groups from other schools, see if
they have any open events that you can join.
The good thing about being in a big city is that there really is a lot going on
all the time. Through the alumni listserv (and checking around the place for
different email listservs esp ones that feature events is another thing I'd
suggest), I also hear about random things like embassy nights where you can have
dinner and chat with ambassadors/other people of importance for a relatively
small entrance fee. Some nonprofit organizations might also be a nice thing to
check out if that's up your alley, whether it's through volunteering (another
good way to meet people) or attending panels/workshop type events.
Anyhow, it can definitely be tough but the only way to break out of the shell it
seems is to really be proactive about putting yourself out there and adding some
"extracurricular activities" to your schedule. Good luck!
...not to mention use of make-up can often be expected/required in certain
professions, i.e. lawyers, investment bankers; I've been told for very formal
interviews if you don't go in with a certain amount of make up you won't get
taken seriously. Definitely varies for the type of job you're going for but, I
guess the point is that they want to see that you take your appearance seriously
and professionally.
I personally am a "no make-up why put chemicals on my face" person,
but I don't really mind other people using it, or the amount, since it's not
something I really notice much. My sister use to use more make-up because she
had some white blemishes on her face... my parents took her to so many doctors
who all gave a different diagnosis and she was really self-conscious for a lot
of her middle/high school years. I think make-up helped her gain some self
esteem and that's definitely a good thing. So to sum up - no, it's not necessary
to me personally, but I do admire people who can use make-up well and naturally,
and take the time to make their appearances pleasant haha, since I myself tend
to get really lazy about that... sometimes too lazy xD

P.S. If you guys want your entry wall for this round to be in the group gallery,
link them in the group GB - I'll pop them in
Not quite x) Here's Tama's quote from thread for previous round:
Quote by TamaActually, the more walls you
enter, the harder it becomes to get a high percentage. You may have less walls
to guess at, but look at the following numbers:
For the sake of example, let's say you guess 12 walls correctly out of 22.
If you had not entered any walls, your accuracy would be 55%.
If you had entered 2 walls, I would factor this out of the percentage. Therefore
your accuracy is 10 correct out of 20 - or only 50%.
If you were our busy bee and entered 5 walls, your accuracy would be even less:
41%!
I'm at an advantage for guessing! Mwa ha ha ha ha >xD
I just went through the entries by thumb. Some of them jumped out at me
name-wise, but just purely in terms of design there are some REALLY cool walls
this round
P.S. Who is the ebil person who made six walls this round I wonder
Hmm or you can change it to an ongoing project if no one is interested in
stepping up to take charge of it... so then you don't have the pressure of
needing to find judges and tracking down scores and what-not...
Quote by ShiXonlol, mind was very obvious
;p
I kinda laughed when a lot people kinda confused my Sakuran wall thinking it was
flyin and someone said maybe me and flyin collaborated ;p even though they were
joking nyan
Haha yeah... I enjoyed that exchange too
BTW if you'd like to see your round 2 wall in the group gallery... please post
the links in the group guestbook That
function only works for member walls, so there you go, additional incentive to
join the group
Quote by PiccolobearI got Tama's 10
and 17, mainly because of the incredibly neat vectors, but I didn't think she
could have done three walls - she seemed so busy organizing this amongst other
stuff I didn't think she'd have the TIME.
^ I thought the exact same thing - so I thought shi-chan made 3 walls
dammit. I probably could've tried a little harder with the colder list I had.
And paid less attention to the x # of wallers made x walls thing.
Yeah I dunno gaara, definitely something about those swirls felt very un-candy
like, and the painting bit too. And haha that card is AWESOMES
alterlier the Aria one for me it was more the lines that gave you away xD You
have very distinct outlines.
*shakes fist @ starrliteangel* that wall was one of the ones that confused the
heck out of me

For a place to start, you can check out the Widescreen-Walls group: http://widescreen-walls.minitokyo.net/
The group gallery would be perfect for what you're looking for actually, good collection of widescreen walls. http://widescreen-walls.minitokyo.net/gallery/
After you find a couple walls you like, another tip would be to check the gallery of the waller who submitted the widescreen wall, since most wallers who go widescreen tend to stay widescreen when they wall xD
Also I just tried search for widescreen and it's not completely fool-proof, but still yields some good results nonetheless. http://gallery.minitokyo.net/search/?q=widescreen&cid=0&display=items
You can get to the gallery search by clicking on the "Art" link at top, and "search" is in left-hand "options" box. Enjoy XP
Feel free to link your wall submissions in the group GB and so I can pop them in the group gallery :]
